Adventuring Failure to Launch: The Beginning of the End

Image
Day 1: Wednesday 7/12/17 Time: 7:52PM, Location: Backpackers Campground Site #22, Tuolumne Meadows I am alone at this campground and it is overwhelming. I find myself fighting back tears while a few still fall. The realization of what I am about to be doing has hit me like a ton of bricks and I am feeling like this is something I shouldn’t be doing. I know this feeling will pass, but right now, I already want to give up this endeavor and go home. The silence here is hard to handle at the moment, probably something that modern technology is playing a part in; I’m always listening to music or something throughout the day or occupying myself with something else, I rarely take a minute to sit and just listen to my surroundings, although I need to do this more. I actually brought some music with me, but I don’t feel like listening to that either right now, I think that has to do with how alone in this unknown I feel right now. David drove me up here and we arrived later than...

9 Hours in Zürich

So if you add in the amount of time I spent on the train to and back out of Zürich, it's probably something more like 15 hours or so, but as far as events occurring during my brief, insane stay in such a beautiful country, they all happened within the matter of nine hours. Let me start out by saying, while Zürich was on my list of places I wanted to see on my trip throughout Europe, it was not one I anticipated visiting until a later date so I hadn’t done much research on accommodations and such. If I had, I would've never decided to go there on this trip. It is outrageously expensive, even more so than San Francisco and New York City combined! A simple coffee will run you about 6.50 franks, which equals about $8.00 US, and even a youth hostel will run over $105 US. But I’m getting ahead of myself; let's start from the beginning, in Venice, Italy. I had already purchased tickets to take a bus out of Venice to Villach, Austria and from there I would take a train to Zagreb,...

New Journies: A Career and a Puppy

I have never been a 'blogger.' Yes, I'm a newbie to this not-so-new trend. I'm looking for some advice and ideas from anyone out there who wants to comment, no matter where in your own life you may be, whether you're a self pronounced down-and-out-single mom, or a state senator who is considering running for President someday. So here we go... I'm a black sheep, yet I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who thinks so. I'm not much like anyone else in my family, in fact, I've claimed I've been adopted from a very young age. I love my family, no doubt about it, but I typically feel like I don't belong. Not only do I not feel like I belong within my own family dynamic, but I often feel I, just don't belong...here. I feel I'm meant to do a million different things, see a million different places, and have a million different experiences, but I'm not doing it. Who's fault is it? No one's but my own, so for now this blog is go...
