Saturday 7/15/17 Wake Up Time: 6:30-7:14am, Got up at 7:19am Current Location: Tuolumne Meadows Store, YARTS Bus Stop, Time: 9:37am                 I’ve made it to the shuttle stop with plenty of time to spare today; I actually thought it was going to take me a little longer to walk here. I woke up wanting to stay in bed longer once again, but knew I should get up and moving so I wouldn’t have to rush.   T he first thing I did after exiting my little tent was locate some sun rays to charge my phone with my Goal Zero panel. Since the sun was quickly rising, I found myself having to move the panel every couple of minutes, dodging the shadows cast by all of the tress. Friday 7/14/17 Wake Up Time: 7:00am, Current Time: 10:59am                  Well, I woke up today feeling less emotional, but not wanting to get out of bed.   I wanted to sleep even more than the almost 9 hours I got;   it was 7:00am when I woke up and 7:25 by the time I dragged myself out of my sleeping bag and I knew that I needed to get moving. I got everything packed up and ate a good breakfast of oats and dried fruit with milk, an apple pie Quest bar, a cup of coffee and some extra dried fruit because it was yummy! J I had everything ready to go by 9:20am and headed out towards the Wilderness Center to catch the bus to the Valley. On the mile walk over there, I almost changed my mind once again and decided to head towards the valley vis the trail for a couple of days, but that quickly changed when my back started to hurt yet again and my spirit still felt crushed. Thursday 7/13/17 Wake up time: 6:30am I made it through the first night! I tossed and turned all night, but was able to sleep for the most part, looks like I was able to get close to about 8 hours of sleep, which is pretty rare for me. I’m still feeling like I’m not cut out for this journey, but I’m going to give it a solid effort, I’m not a quitter! The cold is going to be hard for me to handle, but hopefully I’ll keep moving well enough for it to not fully set in. It’s a nice morning and the birds are chirping, the air is fresh and clean, and the forest smells amazing! I’d much rather be out in the woods then in Fresno! At the same time, this whole roughing it business is going to be a challenge! I’m hoping this journey finds me some peace, self-growth, purpose, motivation, inspiration, and knowledge. Day 1: Wednesday 7/12/17 Time: 7:52PM, Location: Backpackers Campground Site #22, Tuolumne Meadows I am alone at this campground and it is overwhelming. I find myself fighting back tears while a few still fall. The realization of what I am about to be doing has hit me like a ton of bricks and I am feeling like this is something I shouldn’t be doing. I know this feeling will pass, but right now, I already want to give up this endeavor and go home. The silence here is hard to handle at the moment, probably something that modern technology is playing a part in; I’m always listening to music or something throughout the day or occupying myself with something else, I rarely take a minute to sit and just listen to my surroundings, although I need to do this more. I actually brought some music with me, but I don’t feel like listening to that either right now, I think that has to do with how alone in this unknown I feel right now.
